Jeannine has taught studio art in many community settings, including expressive and therapeutic arts in health care settings and privately, for almost twenty years.
She is the former founder/director of two community teaching studios in Urbana, Illinois (1994-2000-2006), and Newport, Rhode Island (2006-2007).

Jeannines outreach has always gone well beyond the studio since the early 90's offering art classes, workshops and therapeutic sessions in schools, homeless shelters, senior living centers, nursing, and adult day care centers. Group studio sessions are also coordinated for alternate learning programs for teens and children on the spectrum with learning disabilities, Autism, and attention and behavior problems. These services continue and also include sessions for small groups in private homes.

Offering art to adults and the elderly at centers Bestoso assists residents with physical disabilities and impairments, and those with reduced and limited mental capacities. Neuro Art Therapy, art activities and projects are successfully conducted with clients who have had strokes, and who have neurological and degenerative diseases, including patients with Cerebral Palsy, Alzheimer
s, Parkinson
s, and Cortical-basal degeneration.

Jeannine's recent accreditation in the field of Neuro Art Therapy and studies in human services supports her knowledge of what processes and modalities can be effective to produce cognitive changes through specific approaches.  Assessments also offer expectations for performance with goals and objectives to yield results in improved motivation and affect, behavior modification, and skill acquisitions.  Clients can be active in psychomotor and perceptual development with a regular routine of applying specific
techniques.  Neurological based clinical assessments, as well as art assessments, that
note abilities and strengths, developmental stages, disabilities, and impairments, and improvements in these areas can be administered and documented, and made available to medical professionals involved with a client's case.

Jeannine is currently on the faculty at the Edward King House Senior Center where she teaches painting and drawing, and facilitates her own "Follow the Leader" painting class.   She continues to provide  group therapeutic art sessions to the elderly at Blenheim
Senior Living Center in Middletown, the Atria in Portsmouth, and with private clients.

        ARTIST STATEMENT

I have responded to my passion for art by focusing my energy to live creatively, produce art, and
share the creative process and experience with others. I am committed to creating new avenues for
myself and involving community.   I respond to an inner drive to be creative and productive, always to
be evolving.
I realize that I communicate through art as a way of living and truly connecting to myself
and life.  As my art unfolds it speaks back to me, lending me clarity and direction. Through it I have come
to know and  actualize my potential.  I have found a sense of peace, balance, structure, and purpose through my art.

I enjoy the opportunity of working with others to create art for them and with them. Through the creative process and our art we recreate ourselves and discover our innate creative abilities.  We relax - we heal,
we express - we release, we discover - we grow.  With such satisfying results I expect this work I do for myself and with others will always be my career path – one which is always evolving as a work in progress.
