 TESTIMONIALS
Creation Art Studios
Urbana, IL

Jeannine,
Thank you for showing
me how to express myself and being there to show me a different perspective on life.

Dear Jeannine,
Your mentoring and
friendship and this little sacred space has meant so much to me.

Dear Jeannine,
I often think of you and thank you for encourageing me.

Thank you for being a great mentor to both our kids.

Dear Jeannine,
I  am so glad that you had a part in my childhood. I thank you truly for all of the art, the teaching, the
learning. I will always have many warm memories.

Jeannine, Thank you for choosing to be a part of our town.

Thank you for helping me to believe that I could be an artist.

You truly filled a need for Abby and many kids here.

Thank you for helping me get into the Art Institute for the two week drawing session. I learned a lot and it was great fun but a lot of hard work!

EXPRESSIVE PAINTING:
Experience spontaneous, personal expression, design and color mixing with watercolor, liquid acrylics and tempera paints. Artists can create realistic and imaginative images and compositions, or abstract fields of blended, dripped, and dabbed colors. Personal expression and creative responses are encouraged to communicate the essence of a subject, of nature and the environment, and to reflect the inner promptings, interests, dreams, thoughts and feelings of the artist. Materials Included.

PAINTING / DRAWING INSTRUCTION: Guidance and technical instruction in drawing, watercolor, acrylic and oils is offered and tailored to the individual preferences or stages of each artist. Genres include, portraits, sea and landscapes, the still life,  floral and animals. Traditional techniques as well as modern and contemporary approaches are explored. Bring your own materials.

DRAWING & COLLAGE: Encouragement toward freedom of expression and imagination, and the exploration of ideas are the main priorities of this media. Using pencil, chalk, oil pastels, and markers students can draw what is important to them. They develop awareness in seeing and recording aspects of themselves and their ideas. Collage offers further exploration, clipping and pasting from photos and magazines to express familial, personal, inspirational, spiritual, political and global connections and affinities. For collage some publications are provided for clipping but bring your own magazines or other publications to clip from too. Materials included.

CERAMICS: The development of ideas and the creation of  three dimensional objects through hand building techniques. Creativity and skill develop as artists build clay forms through coiling, shaping, pinching and slab construction. Glazing from a wide selection of colored glazes deepens the aesthetic experience. Requires a second class to paint glazes. Material and firing fee determined with usage.

ASSEMBLAGE ART OR PLASTER:  Students work with found objects to create assemblage art pieces, or work in a subtractive method with hammer, chisel, files and paint to create forms of mass and interest.

TEENS & ADULTS

STUDENT WORK CREATED AT NEWPORT AND URBANA STUDIOS

THE TEEN SCENE

Most of the art work below was created by my regular students in Urbana, IL. The adults that came to the studio were professors that worked at the university, teachers and other professionals in the community. They felt they really needed a time and a place to go to  that was entirely different than their very structured and intellectual lives. They had never painted before and some had never even thought of doing it for themselves. They saw their children doing it and became tempted. Once they started they couldn’t miss a session. Coming to the studio became part of their lives.
